Reality of AI

Reality of AI

What is AI in reality?

Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to computer systems that can do complicated activities formerly only performed by humans, such as reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving.
We hear it here and then, and we know it mostly through ChatGPT, and futuristic films, but what is AI in reality?
The term artificial intelligence has become more used and more common, to the point that if you ask a ten-year-old child about artificial intelligence, he can explain it to you. Who does not know anything about artificial intelligence now, since the emergence of ChatGpt did a big wave in everyday use.
However, AI can take many forms in the daily news and everyday life, including digital assistants, GPS assistance, driverless vehicles, and generative AI tools (like Open AI’s Chat GPT). The phrase is widely used to refer to creating systems with human-like intellectual processes, such as the ability to reason, uncover meaning, generalize, or learn from previous experience.
“I believe AI will change the world more than anything in the history of humanity. More than electricity.” Kai-Fu Lee, AI Expert, Chairman & CEO of Sinovation Ventures, Author of ‘AI Superpowers’ and ‘AI 2041’

Will AI take over our jobs?

Artificial intelligence (AI) will fundamentally alter our work, play, and life. However, it’s also evident that there is a great deal of disinformation, confusion, and excitement surrounding the topic. The most frequently asked question is whether artificial intelligence will take over our jobs. Let us take an example of a machine working by AI and it is present in most homes.

What is Alexa?

Alexa has become a leading digital assistant that powers an entire smart device ecosystem and enables users to ask inquiries in natural language. Alexa quickly gained widespread recognition and established Amazon’s strong position in the market. For those unfamiliar with Alexa or its competitors, digital assistants are AI-powered tools that respond to voice commands to perform various tasks, with its ever-improving artificial intelligence skills, Alexa can answer basic questions and conduct complicated routines, such as providing information, controlling smart devices, and managing daily routines.

The uses of Alexa:

Alexa is a versatile companion who can simplify your life in various ways. Here are some common uses:
· Entertainment and Music: Alexa is a versatile device that can read articles, play music, and provide news, sports scores, and weather updates.
· Smart house Control: Alexa can be used to control appliances, thermostats, and lighting in your home, allowing you to set the temperature or turn off lights.
· Routines: To automate tasks, create personalized routines. Saying “Alexa, good night” can activate sleep noises, lock doors, and turn off lights.
· Voice Calls: Use the Alexa app or other Alexa-enabled devices to make hands-free voice or video calls.
· Search the Web: you can ask Alexa to use web searches to get answers.
· Calendar Management: You can use Alexa, to organize your calendar and plan events.

What Jobs Will Artificial Intelligence Replace by 2030?

AI has a strong chance of replacing many jobs in the next ten years. The most vulnerable jobs are those that involve regular and repeated labor. AI, robots, and automation are transforming industries like warehousing and transportation, causing job displacement but also creating new opportunities and demand for diverse skill sets. According to AI specialists, the following eight jobs will be most susceptible to automation by AI:

1- Transportation and Warehousing:

There is a lot of automation in these industries. By 2030, robots and artificial intelligence will likely replace over 5% of warehouse professions and around 50% of transportation occupations. Two important elements are automated warehouse systems and self-driving cars.

2- Drivers:

Self-driving technology is rapidly developing, posing risks to drivers in truck, cab, and delivery services, while regulations are being addressed to potentially reduce driving employment.

3- Warehouse Workers:

Automation in distribution facilities is expected to decrease human labor demand by 2030, as automated pickers, sorters, and movers outperform tired and mistake-prone human laborers.

4- Secretaries, administrative assistants :

Office clerks are increasingly being automated, with AI systems handling tasks like scheduling, filing documents, and data entry, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in administrative processes.

5- Customer service representatives

AI chatbots and voice assistants are becoming more adept at handling routine customer service requests and duties. Automated phone menus and chatbots can answer frequently asked inquiries, do account searches, and fulfill simple requests.

6- Content Marketers:

AI is reshaping content writing, making it accessible to anyone without the need for extensive training or skilled human minds.

7- Graphic Artists:

AI-powered tools like Adobe Photoshop and Luminar AI automate image enhancement, lighting adjustments, background removal, and filter application, reducing the time and skill required for complex editing tasks.
AI can automate routine tasks, reducing workload for radiologists and medical diagnosticians, potentially reducing burnout and allowing them to focus on complex cases and patient care.
On the other hand, even if artificial intelligence replaces many jobs, this does not mean that we can abandon human touch and completely rely solely on artificial intelligence. However, it is smart to use artificial intelligence as a helpful tool and not a tool against humans. In the past, transportation was by horses, but with time horse carriages were used, so the number of horses in the house decreased from four horses to two horses, and after that cars were used instead of horse carriages the horse’s stables were replaced with mechanical stores. With all these developments, it does not mean that you do not exist, but rather that we must adapt to all these changes.
Even our behavior changes with this development. For example, the hiring manager does not want to hire two people (content writer and digital marketing). He will hire only one person because artificial intelligence can replace the other person. But in my point of view, we can indeed use artificial intelligence as an auxiliary tool, but you must also develop yourself and increase your skills to keep pace with this change. Moreover, While AI’s role in the workplace is expanding, it should be seen as an auxiliary tool rather than a replacement for human workers. By embracing AI and focusing on skill development, professionals can navigate the changing job landscape and continue to thrive in their careers.

Should We Fear or Embrace AI

AI can completely transform our planet by improving our lives and resolving difficult issues. Robots are seen in the futuristic picture, skillfully handling human problems. But underneath the science fiction illusion, we find a more intricate scenario. The advantages and risks of AI are combined. There may be unintended repercussions that affect ethics, privacy, and society. It would be incorrect to ignore the risks or the advantages. We must consider all viewpoints and carefully guide the development of AI. Moreover, the debate on AI’s potential benefits and risks is multifaceted, encompassing both positive and negative aspects from both perspectives. Here’s an overview of the key points from both perspectives:

Rapid progress

Humanity thrives on progress, and AI provides an unprecedented leap. It can process vast data, uncover hidden patterns, and automate complex tasks. Imagine personalized medicine, scientific breakthroughs, and safer self-driving cars-all within AI’s grasp. Beyond practical applications, AI can delve into brain mysteries, analyze ecosystems, and explore the universe. By pushing knowledge boundaries, AI enriches our lives in unimaginable ways.

Job Displacement and Bias

Automation threatens job stability, potentially rendering entire industries obsolete. Bias in AI training data can perpetuate discrimination in areas like criminal justice and loan approvals. Opaque AI systems raise concerns about accountability and transparency. The risk of drones making life-or-death decisions without human intervention is significant. Ethical implications arise, potentially reshaping the definition of conflict.

Embracing AI responsibly

Ignoring these risks would be unwise, but giving in to fear and blocking advancement entirely would be equally shortsighted. The goal is to take a balanced approach, acknowledging AI’s great potential while working relentlessly to limit its threats. This requires a multi-pronged effort.
· Ethical Development: Ethical guidelines for AI development are crucial to align AI systems with human values, requiring collaboration among engineers, legislators, and ethicists to prevent prejudice and unforeseen consequences.
· Education and Reskilling: The workforce must adapt to AI’s transformations through extensive education and reskilling programs, promoting lifelong learning and adaptation for long-term employability.
· Regulation and Oversight: Governments and international organizations must collaborate to establish clear regulations and guidelines for AI development and deployment, particularly in sensitive areas like autonomous weapons.
· Human-Centered Design: AI should serve humans by complementing and enhancing human capabilities, rather than automating them, to ensure AI remains a tool for advancement, not a source of alienation.
